What’s driving the development of Future Intelligent Cities?

If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you know that local governments all across the UK are using the latest technology to transform their services, engage citizens and accelerate economic growth. It's clear that local government offices need to adapt, making better use of technology to meet the challenges ahead. But how does that vision of a better tomorrow turn into a reality?

On 4-5 December, you can get answers to that all-important question. Join Microsoft Government Industry Manager Michael Wignall and a host of experts in all aspects of smart city development at the IET’s Future Intelligent Cities conference in London. The conference offers you the chance to meet professionals concerned with every aspect of future intelligent city development, including sustainable transport, smart energy, information and data security, architecture and town planning. All attendees will have one thing in common – the need to meet and work with all the other disciplines represented at the conference, to jointly build cities that are smart, sustainable and attractive places to live.

Michael will be collaborating with Norfolk County Council’s CIO, Tom Baker, to speak on CityNext – Cities that are modern, safer, healthier and more educated. Their talk will cover technology solutions for more liveable cities and present a case study of the Digital Norfolk Ambition project.

Michael will be joining a programme including:

  • Protecting and promoting the UK in a digital world:  Nick Jennings, Chief Scientific Advisor for National Security, CPNI
  • Smart City enabling infrastructure:  Paul Brodrick, Head of Smart Grid Applications & Solutions, Siemens (Infrastructure and Cities Sector)
  • Secure and resilient Smart Cities enabled by the Internet of Everything:  John Baekelmans, Chief Technology Officer, Smart+Connected Communities, Cisco
  • Sustainable Glasgow:  Richard Bellingham, Director sustainable cities & engineering policy, Strathclyde Business School
  • Smart Freight Corridors: the key to sustainable movement of goods:  Tim Morris, Intelligent Transport Systems Group, Transport for Greater Manchester

This two-day conference is just £150 to attend! See the full programme and book your place today!
