Windows XP x64 edition and games
I thought I would post a bit of information that maybe helpful.
If your game seems to be running at double speed on x64, you can try adding this to your boot.ini /USEPMTIMER
It has to do with processor throttling technologies causing the
QueryPerformanceFrequency API to return values that cause the game to
run too fast
( such as returning that the processor is running at 700mhz instead of 2Ghz )
I recommend creating a backup copy of your boot entry incase something
goes wrong.
XP includes a handy tool to edit your boot.ini called
bootcfg and I recommend that you use it.
In my case I used
bootcfg /copy /id 1
bootcfg /raw "/USEPMTIMER /noexecute=optin /fastdetect" /id 2
I hope it helps.
