Welcome to the official SharePoint IT Pro documentation team blog!

We're the Microsoft SharePoint IT Pro documentation team. We're passionate about providing the right documentation for anyone who is planning, designing, deploying, managing, or supporting SharePoint in their environment.

Our blog is intended to:

  • Help you find relevant and/or new content on TechNet
  • Highlight product features and associated content
  • Let you know when we make major updates to a content area
  • Preview content for new releases as early as we can (even before we publish it on the TechNet Library)

We'd love to hear your suggestions about ways we can improve content for you! In particular, we’d like to know about your pain points. What don’t we cover that you need? Does the content organization make sense?

Post a comment or send us e-mail.

Hi there, congrats for this new Blog! How about use and configuration for BLOB External SharePoint Content? And how about backing up sites with configured workflows (SPD, WSS defaults, etc), possible workarounds for the SharePoint Community Regards, Luis.

Luis, Thanks for your feedback!  I'm in the process of locating the documentation for the areas you mentioned.  Here's what I have so far: Regarding use and configuration for BLOB External SharePoint Content, see "External Storing of Binary Large Objects (BLOBs) in Windows SharePoint Services" (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb802976.aspx).  This is actually developer documentation, but should contain what you need. Unfortunately SharePoint Designer backups don't do workflows, but here's documentation for what does Back up custom workflows: Create a solution package for your workflows. See: Workflows roadmap (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc263262(TechNet.10).aspx), and Deploy customizations (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc263205(TechNet.10).aspx). Workflow management settings: part of the config DB. See Data protection and recovery for Office SharePoint Server (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=102839&clcid=0x409). There's one other thing I'm checking into and will let you know if that applies. Hope this helps! Claudia Lake SharePoint IT Pro Documentation Writer
