IE Team
I don't suppose anybody is keeping score, but I'm now working on the Internet Explorer team full time. More specifically, I'm on the browser UI team along with Jeremy, Jeff, Aaron, and a bunch of others who either don't blog, or who's blogs I don't know about yet. :-) This isn't a huge change; much of my time recently has been spent on IE features such as the “never trust“ option for the Authenticode dialog and related plumbing.
After more details are made public I'll post on some of the other work my team did for IE for XP SP2. (Hate spyware? You'll love SP2.) As you might expect, I can't talk about anything that hasn't been publicly announced or give useful answers about when IE will have such-and-such feature, but other questions and feedback are welcome!

Great, I got a BIG annoyance feature which I call a bug or bad design.
To reproduce this..
1) On any web textbox, hold down CTRL and double left click and a new about: blank IE window pops up, WHY?
or
2) On any web textbox, double right click and the same happens, what genius thought this up?
TARDLICIOUS. - Anonymous

Oh yeah -- really annoying - because holding down CTRL and double-left clicking textboxes is something you must do all the time.
In any case, it doesn't happen here. - Anonymous

Actually I have a family member that has a disability and they double click using the right button and it happens. So much for accessability. - Anonymous

Rather odd, i tried to reproduce this with 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633 and nothing happens with any combination of left or right click with or without ctrl, in or outside of textboxes? - Anonymous

Beuller, I don't repro this either; please try on another machine. You most likely have an IE add-on (or external program) that is causing this to happen.
Fortunately, XP SP2 does a pretty good job of letting you manage(enable and disable) all types of browser add-ons. - Anonymous

No browser addins, its working on ANY IE type control or window that ANY app uses, its even happening on RSS Bandid web page window.
Just a simple double right click brings up about:blank, always had this problem. - Anonymous

Beuller, I am pretty sure IE does not provide this functionality, but I'll keep an eye out for it.
In the meantime, I recommend confirming the repro on another machine, and checking for spyware or other browser add-ons that you may have knowingly (or unknowingly) installed.

Double right click on a modal dialog opens the webpage in a new window. But only happens on IE came with windows 2k not the one from XP. - Anonymous

Well, I have the same problem. I'm using Windows XP SP1. The page that opens in new browser window is not just any page / about:blank page, but the page that is set as the default home page - try it out.
This behaviour is "activated" with CTRL + single left click / double right click as Ferris Beuller already mentioned.
I also noticed that this started to happen after I installed MS Office Profesional EE 2003 on my computer, but I'm not really sure this is it, since I haven't try to reinstall my computer yet. - Anonymous

I also have to add this: I don't believe this behaviour comes with hotfixes from Windows update service, since my co-workers (also WinXP SP1, only without MS Office Pro EE 2003) regulary use this service and they don't have those symptoms.
