Office 12 Beta1 is out...

The only thing I can think of about the release of the Beta1 is a famous corollary:

"Any given program, when running, is obsolete".

Keep in mind that Beta1 is out and all, but this is not the final version. We want (and need, really) your feedback. If you haven't already, register for the beta here: https://www.microsoft.com/office/preview/default.mspx.

Yes, surely there will be suggestions that we cannot implement between now and ship time, but we will, I guarantee you, go through them when it comes time to talk about "the next version". So, go use it and abuse it, and let us know what you think.

(BTW - Here's the official press release: https://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2005/nov05/11-16Office12Beta1PR.mspx)

I have to say that I am very disappointed about the lack of information regarding Access 12. Eric Rucker had a post about Access's committment to developers, but his last post and the last post on this Blog are from November last year(!). In the comments of Eric Ruckers Blog you could find an very interesting opinion about the reasons why the Access Team is so far behind the other Office teams regarding talking about the new version:

At the moment I could only agree that there is not a single sign of any committment to Access developers at all. Very sad and frustrating ...

    Hi Thomas,

The lack of information regarding A12 is natural since we haven't reach a public Beta yet. We should be able to start talking about some these things soon.

As far as lack of committment to Access developers, we simply cannot go into specifics yet. As Erik says about SQL server in the comments for that post: "Knox - we're working with the SQL team on getting smarter about remoting more functionality to the server. Nothing to promise at this point, but it is definitely an are we're looking at.".
