Most Annoying Feature... ever

This is a pet peeve… If you use Access and have multiple windows open, each window shows up as a separate icon in the task bar.

Thankfully, you can turn this feature off in the Options dialog. Of course, you need to have a database open to use this dialog (don’t get me started, but we’re addressing this in Access 12). In the ‘View’ tab, uncheck the ‘Windows in Taskbar’ option.

And voila, now we have an uncluttered taskbar. And now, for the bonus question: what do you think this feature is for?

Well, it was meant as kind of an SDI mode for Access. Good intention, but quite frankly I don’t like it.

The same "feature" exists in Word, and has the same cure. I never liked it, either.

A proper SDI interface would have been much better, I think...

To be honest I've never noticed.

What I would personally do is when I'm working in Access it would be handy to have it spread out in the taskbar, since I can move to tables that have other objects in front of them. But when I change to another application or minimize it then all "shrinks" to a single button, since I no longer need those extra buttons.

My pet peeve is the lack of ability to have a set layout. i.e. a lot of time I am working between two tables and a query. It would be great to have a way to lay it out in specific ways and have new windows that open into that layout. Instead of every time I work I have to move and resize windows back and forth.
