Language Portal search tip: Finding exact matches only
A visitor to the Microsoft Language Portal contacted us via the Feedback page and wrote “When I try to find “find in”, I don’t find it. ” So the visitor wanted to find the exact string find in, but the search results only contained find.
The reason is that common words like in, from, to, etc, are regarded as stop words by our search.
So you when you are searching for the particular string find in, the results will look like this:
However, there is a way to find the exact string. The trick is to use quotation marks around the string or phrase. So if you enter “find in” (in quotation marks) instead of find in, you’ll get the exact string or phrase you are looking for:
