On Wednesday President Obama nominated technology entrepreneur and former lobbyist Tom Wheeler to succeed Julius Genachowski as chairman of the Federal Communications Commission. Wheeler will be tasked with implementing the communications policies of President Obama, who has stated that his desire to fight on behalf of consumers and to maintain thriving and open Internet and wireless marketplaces.
