What is Cluster Aware Updating in Windows Server 2012? (Part 2) [VIDEO]

Summary: This article is contributed by Ryan Doon , a Premier Field Engineer based in Canada. In this post (the second of a two part series), he walks us through a video demonstration of the new Cluster Aware Updating feature of Windows Server 2012, and how it can be used to easily update clustered servers while maintaining availability of service to clients. Enjoy!

And now it’s time to present Part 2 of What is Cluster Aware Updating in Windows Server 2012?  In this video, I will take you through a live demonstration of cluster aware updating, to show how this excellent new feature in Windows Server 2012 will greatly simplify the process of updating your clusters.  And for those that asked, this is not a feature that can be ported into Windows Server 2008 R2 Smile.

Cheers for that Ryan. I assume that because it works through WSUS it will also integrate with SCCM 2012 R2? Also, is there an option to download updates directly from the iNet?

Hi Ryan,This is a great video. One question though, when installing the cluster aware updating service, can it be install on another 2012 Server or does it need to be on the WSUS or Domain Controller servers? I know in your example you have the WSUS and Domain Controller on one server.
