My Mobile Broadband card with my Sony
Vaio VHN-P19WN does not get detected on Windows 7 –
I just got it working
and want to share the installation procedure. You’ll need these drivers and
apps from Sony:
1.
Sony
Shared Library 5.3 - Download
2.
VAIO
Setting Utility Series 4.3 - Download
3.
VAIO
Control Center 3.3 - Download
4.
VAIO
Event Service 4.3 - Download
5.
Sony
Firmware Extension Parser 8.0 - Download
6.
VAIO
Power Management 3.3 - Download
7.
VAIO Smart Network 2.3 - Download
Sometimes you can get
newer versions of the software depending on the Vaio model you own from the
Sony Vaio support site but I can confirm that the above downloads are working
for a Sony Vaio P-series. The installation procedure is crucial:
- Sony Shared Library
- Setting Utility Series
- VAIO Control Center
- VAIO Event Service
- Firmware
Extension Parser (by manual updating the unknown device in device
manager” - VAIO Power Management
- VAIO Smart Network
After that you can
enable the device and install the usual Globetrotter driver and management
software. One thing I noticed: I couldn’t install the connection manager
software running the default permission within Windows 7. I had to disable UAC,
reboot and after that the MSI installer worked flawlessly for this paket.
Reenabled UAC, reboot and everything works.
