SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 Cumulative update #7

The 7th cumulative update release for SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 is now available for download at the Microsoft Support site.
Cumulative Update 7 contains all the SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 hotfixes which have been available since the initial release of SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2.

Will we be seeing SP3 anytime soon - Sp1 is going out of support in early october ?Anonymous

It would be nice if MS gave us some notice, and gave us a few months warning which CUs will be included in SP3. I don't trust applying a later CU, then essentially applying a downlevel SP_next and another SP_CU_next to be equivalent just to get back in order. It has worked for me in the past, but I'm skeptical it comes out exactly the same. If we had some warning, it would be easier for us to plan our CU and patching schedules.
