Summary of the SQL Server Announcements:

  • Official name for the next release of SQL Server:  SQL Server 2008 R2
    • This is release name for what was announced earlier as code named ‘Kilimanjaro'. This release includes all the great BI enhancements announced in the BI conference last year such as ‘Gemini’, ’Synthesis’, Self Services Reporting, and support for 256 processors on Windows Server 2008 R2.

  • New technology for low-latency complex event processing

I cant wait to get my hands on the CTP to get my hands dirty on some of the cool new technology. Upgrade to SQL Server 2008 now with software assurance to be able to start taking advantage of the great new features announced.
