SharePoint 2013: Support of App Fabric 1.1 Ending on 2 April 2016, Is SharePoint affected??

Cumulative Update Package 1 for Microsoft AppFabric 1.1 for Windows Server (KB 2671763)

There was a recent announcement by Microsoft ending the support of App Fabric 1.1 on 2nd April 2016 (https://blogs.msdn.com/b/appfabric/archive/2015/04/02/windows-server-appfabric-1-1-ends-support-4-2-2016.aspx ) has generated much discussion on how that impacts the supportability for SharePoint 2013 today and SharePoint 2016 in the future.

It is important that Microsoft supports its products for the published support lifecycle, including the individual components that constitute a larger product release –

With this in mind, despite the ending of support for App Fabric 1.1 as an individual product, Microsoft will continue to support the component through to the expected end of support lifecycle of SharePoint 2013 and SharePoint 2016.

Please be assured that this announcement has no bearing on the support of their existing or future deployments of SharePoint 2013 or SharePoint 2016 through to end of life of that product.
