If you receive following error when connecting to the SCOM console: An unexpected failure occurred while performing the operation. Retry the operation (ID: 33189). [Microsoft System Center 2012 Service Pack 1 Data Protection Manager]

This seems to be related to the SCOM Agent Task:

Generic Task failure:

since 33189 is a SCOM agent generic failure: Users triggers any SCOM task and the task returns failure

To troubleshoot this further however, since the tasks can be custom, further ETL Tracing needs to be gathered. In this case it seems to be a DPM agent task that fails.
