Samples Gallery and Project Hilo

We recently published the first in a series of articles for the Hilo Project.  The Hilo Project is a learning series that attempts to not only showcase Windows features, but also show some best practices for creating applications for Windows without using traditional application frameworks such as the Microsoft Foundation Class Library (MFC).  The first application that was created is a Windows Touch enabled interface for browsing and viewing photographs that takes advantage of the Windows Animation Framework as well as Direct 2D and other Windows features.  A MSDN article has been created as well to guide you through the design of the project and explain Hilo features.

Also new on the Windows Developer Center is the Samples Gallery.  This page features attractive samples that ship with the Windows SDK and also highlights other out of band samples that the Windows Programmer / Writer team has been working on to show off Windows features.  Moving forward we'll be adding more samples to this page and you can expect for there to be some exciting content showcased here.
