ASP.NET AJAX Extensions 1.0 Released!

It's done!  You can download the RTM version of the ASP.NET AJAX bits here, and the matching Toolkit bits here.

The ASP.NET AJAX project has been a lot of fun to be involved and it's great to have it full released so people can start to take advantage of it on all their sites.  It's also been very intersting to see how the symbiosis between Microsoft side of the project (ASP.NET AJAX) and the community developed part (the Toolkit) has evolved.  It's a powerful thing.

The Toolkit team has been very busy, since October or so, just keeping up with the ASP.NET AJAX releases.  This release we managed to do more than just keep in check - we finally got some new controls into the project along with 73 bug fixes.  We spent a lot of time looking at all of the issues that have been reported and trying to fix the more important ones.  The new voting feature on the CodePlex issue tracker has been a big help for us to make those decisions.  Going forward we will continue to heavily rely on that data.

But - hey! - finally some new controls:

1) AutoCompleteExtender - we got this moved over from the Atlas CTP so now it's part of the Toolkit!

2) Calendar - a nice popup, stylable calendar control courtesy of Ron Buckton

3) MaskedEdit - a very flexible MaskedEdit extener for your textboxes, courtesy of Fernando Cerqueira

4) Tabs - create stylish Tabbed interfaces with this container control, also by Ron Buckton

Check out these great new controls and we look forward to seeing them running on your websites!
