Hosted SBS: a partner's perspective
Excellent post from a Canadian SBSC on how they offer Hosted SBS solutions.
As mentioned in the Small Business Partner breakout sessions at our Wave launch roadshow, hosting or SPLA licensing (SPLA = service provide license agreement) is by far the fastest growing part of our SBS business (closely followed by Academic, but that's for another post). Whether you host the servers yourself or outsource to a provider such as WebCentral or New Lease is up to you. Either way, there's a serious opportunity in this business & one that you should at least consider.
Quick excerpt of MPECS Inc's post:
The licensing revenue of Microsoft products under SPLA is per user per month. We essentially pay for what we use to provide our clients with the hosted SBS solution. And, the cost per month is very reasonable.
Some useful links if you're interested in offering hosted solutions to your clients:
- Local Australian hosting site
- Main corporate SPLA site
- Service provider forum - good for basic Q&A
I'd love to hear from any Australian partners that are offering these services now. Your thoughts, good & bad.
Robbie
