Introducing the Open Source Club on CodePlex – Project of the Month: Rawr

Over on the CodePlex Team Blog, I announced the Open Source Club on CodePlex. An except from the post:

The Open Source Club (OSC) is a group of volunteers who contribute what they can to the specified open source project each month. If you’ve ever wanted to contribute to an open source project, but didn’t know where to start or didn’t have much time, this is your chance.

Even if you just spend 20 minutes just writing up a bug report, a “how-to” user guide, or a blog entry about the tool, it counts! It’s about making the most of the time you have right now to contribute.

The project of the month is Rawr. I suggested Rawr to the OSC leadership team because I know the project owner well, knew he would be open to the idea of volunteering as our first project (we have no idea where this is going to go or what would happen), and it’s a tool for WoW, which in its own right is cool.

If you have a project suggestion, please let me know. And of course, I’d love to hear feedback about the Open Source Club on CodePlex.

    so, are you just telling us you are in that club? or can other people join the club?

    Yes, others can join. Anyone who participates in the project of the month is in the club. We're just getting started, so to "join" you'll need to contact the project owner for some tasks to do. maybe in the future we can have an official list of people in the club, etc. but we just wanted to get started helping OSS projects. Agile has taken over my life =D

    Wow! Thats a nice move from codeplex. RAWR seems to be a good project to start with.. I am looking forward to join in future projects.

    I nearly typed in the URL to an MSDN blog for my URL lol. Rawr sounds awesome. I don't have much time to check it out what with learning asp classic cringe for work and all, but I definitely know about WoW and wish I had the money and bandwidth to play. Regarding OSS, isn't it a mission to get technical support for it if something doesn't happen the way you expect it to? I mean, you don't necessarily know who coded the feature of the program that went wrong, so how do you find out who to talk to about it?
