CNET video: StreetDeck in a Scion

Here's a video of a decked out Scion that has an integrated Windows XP computer running StreetDeck software from MP3Car.com. This is the same software I run on my XP machine in my car, with my very own custom speech interface for playing media from my media collection.

That would be great to have voice input on the cell phone for GPS Nav... It's only a matter of time, really. Cell phone processors and capabilities continue to get faster and faster. Memory size increases every year.

Right now the memory size is just about big enough to run a full blown speech recognizer with a large model vocabulary on it. I've seen demonstrations of that technology by several companies, and our own technology research teams.

Integrating it in a way that's perfect for persons who are visually impaired would be a simple extension of making it work for people that are "eyes-busy". I know I'd love to do the whole scenario "eyes-free" myself so I won't accidentally run off the road while I'm talking to my phone.

Some day, Jim ... Some day ... That's why I love this technology and the tech industry in general. We're at the cusp of something great.
