Error when installing SharePoint 2013 Customer Preview

I started installing SharePoint 2013 Customer Preview today.

 

I had SharePoint 2010 on my local machine already, i'm running Server 2008 R2. I uninstalled SharePoint 2010, Web Apps, the SDK - just for luck, and anything else I thought may have caused an issue with the install. What happened next?

 

I had already installed the prerequisites, so went ahead and started the install.....

The issue was a registry key in the following location:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Web Server Extensions\14.0

I deleted all of the folders underneath this key and ran the install again.

 

It worked!!!
