Pushing the Browser
So Beau Amber, CEO of Metaliq is talking about what he's been doing in Silverlight.
He's gonna show off Top Banana, it's one of the first Silverlight applications built with Orcas, Blend 2.0 and the Silverlight platform.
It's a video editing application that allows zooming, scrubbing, and reworking of a video library.
He's playing 9 different clips at the same time.
The entire thing is delivered over the web in 50k. "Pretty tight code". Indeed.
Click and drag the video and it turns in to a film strip, so you see the preview and snapshots through out the film. Easily enabling new cuts. By clicking and dragging though another film he's found an exact cut point and dropped it into the original clip.
They worked as I've been advocating for a while, start with the Design, get the concept worked out, move it into Blend, work with shared projects. Designer & developer on the same codebase, same project. It's the way of the future.
They did all of this, with pre-alpha components in under a month.
This is their first project, keep an eye out for more!!
