Problem caused by Morpheus Toolbar (morpheustoolbar.dll)
Hello, you just arrived from the Windows Error Reporting site because you received the response that Internet Explorer crashed due to the Morpheus Toolbar.
If you were to call into Microsoft about this problem and get me on the phone, this is what I would tell you:
Morpheus Toolbar is a peer-to-peer client to find files on the Internet. This toolbar runs within Internet Explorer and it causes Internet Explorer to crash because it’s accessing memory incorrectly. I would recommend contacting Morpheus to ask them to fix it or just uninstalling it. I’m personally very cautious of peer-to-peer programs and only run them in “virtual computers” using Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 because I’m wary of what files my computer comes in contact with on the Internet. If something bad happens, I can just delete the “virtual computer” instead of having to rebuild my entire “real” machine.
The toolbar add-on is usually installed in the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Morpheus Toolbar\morpheustoolbar.dll
In case you can't get back to the Windows Error Reporting page:
Click here to provide feedback to Morpheus.
Click here for uninstall instructions from the Morpheus web site.
Click here for instructions on how to disable an Add On in general.
We’ve already seen that uninstalling via the Control Panel sometimes crashes, and often results in an incomplete uninstall, so I would suggest uninstalling using the Morpheus uninstaller.
In case none of the above methods work for you, please follow these instructions:
1. From the Desktop, go to My Computer or Start | My Computer.
2. Navigate to the Morpheus Toolbar folder:
a. Double click C:
b. Double click Program Files.
c. Double click Morpheus Toolbar.
3. Find toolbaruninstaller.exe and double click on it.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall.
If the above un-installation method also fails, you can manually uninstall the application by taking the same steps that the uninstall utility usually takes:
1. Click Start
2. Type cmd in the Start Search text box, right-click cmd.exe, click Run as administrator, and then click Continue.
3. At the command prompt, type cd "C:\Program Files\Morpheus Toolbar\"
4. At the command prompt, type regsvr32 /u morpheustoolbar.dll, and then click OK in the dialog box that appears.
5. At the command prompt, type del morpheustoolbar.dll
If you discover that a new fixed version becomes available, please tell me so we can stop Internet Explorer from crashing.
Thanks,
John
