Download updates for your Bluetooth software

Hello, you've likely arrived at this blog post from the Windows Error Reporting site, because you received the response that the Toshiba Bluetooth software caused a problem in Windows Vista.

This Toshiba Bluetooth software is originally developed by Toshiba. Several computer manufacturers (or OEMs)  have adopted this software, done some customization, and distributed it with their brand of PCs.

Toshiba has fixed this problem in the Toshiba version. You can download the fix from the following websites if you are using a Toshiba brand PC.
English site:  https://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/index.php?page=download
Japanese siste: https://dynabook.com/assistpc/download/modify/btstack/v6/index_j.htm

But due to the nature of this software, if you are using a non-Toshiba brand PC, you cannot use the fix on Toshiba's website. Instead, please contact your machine manufacturer's support desk for the fix of this program.

If you know the download site for other OEMs, please share the information on this blog. Thanks!

Follow-up to my previous post,  I have confirmed that ASUS F9J does indeed use Toshiba Blue tooth Stack, details follow: Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba Version v5.10.02 Copyright 2000-2007 TOSHIBA CORPORATION All rights reserved. Bluetooth Specification Version 2.0,1.2,1.1 With that detail can anyone confirm if I can use the an update from Toshiba since ASUS isn't supplying one? Thanks again Thomi (
    Comment from Cleng:
Hi Thomi, since ASUS might have changed part of the software, the update on Toshiba's website may or may not work. No one knows, and this is not a supported upgrade path.
If you really want to, please do this at your own risk.

I just spent two weeks trying to fix a Sony SmartWi Utility conflict with a Vista update.  The Sony techs gave me three different sets of wrong directions and by that time my system was so fouled up I had to reinstall XP from the retore partition, then upgrade to Vista.  I'm still reinstalling my other software.  I can't imagine Sony techs will come up with a fix for this problem any time soon. I have a VAIO VGN-TXN15P laptop.  And to think I bought a Sony because my Picturebook lasted seven years...

I have an ASUSTek F9J laptop with windows Vista home premium.  I believe my laptop does use a version of the Toshiba BT Driver but unfortuneately the only driver available on the ASUS Website (http://support.asus.com.tw/download/download.aspx?model=F9J&SLanguage=en-us) is BlueTooth driver for Vista Version V5.10.02 file size 26.54 (MBytes)dated 2007/02/12.   That is the driver that came with my laptop so in effect ASUS has not provided any updates at this time. Any suggestion would be appreciated Thanks Thomi

Hi Cleng Thank you for the response.  Not the answer I'd hoped for but I guess I'll just have to wait till ASUS get's around to recognizing the problem.  Unfortuneately I don't have a lot of hope that they will.  They do produce a good product and I'm happy with my laptop but I must say I've had no response at all from their support site to the two questions I've posted.  If this problem goes on too long I may just have a go at trying the Toshiba download.  I suppose I can always reinstall the current driver.  Thanks again for reviewing my post Thomi

Thomi: I looked around on Asus site and found this,http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?modelname=Bluetooth&SLanguage=en-us   and Version v5.10.02 is at the bottom of the list so there is newer ones... i think ;)

Hello Matte, Thanks for finding the info on the ASUS site, I had only looked at bluetooth drivers for my model and didn't think to look at all their bluetooth drivers. Based on your research I've asked on their website if I can use one of those newer versions on my machine without causing problems. I will post if/when I get a response to my query.   Thanks again

Hi. I have the same problem... u do not need to get some updates from toshiba, u have to google your manufacturers support site (fujitsu-siemens, sony, ...) and look for "download drivers" or something like that. at fujitsu-siemens it searches automatically for updates, if u tell them (dropdown-menu) which machine u got... I don't think they ever update it... C Ya.. CW

I have this problem, too! My Fujitsu S6510 notebook also uses Toshiba Bluetooth Stack, and the error messages appear so frequently. But I couldn't find an update for the Bluetooth driver on the Fujitsu's website. Can anyone help me?

I have Fujitsu-Siemens S6410 laptop, which comes with Toshiba stack, I had the problem a few times, got the latest updates from FS, but they did not help. I uninstalled Toshiba BT stack, and installed one for Microsoft Bluetooth mouse (funny, but it works). It works much better, does not crush the driver and its service every 30s, and does not discharge my mobile phone battery in 30min. Still, there are problems, but less frequent. I recommend everybody trying to give up Toshiba BT stack, which installs tens of BT COM ports which then are badly used.

Is the problem with the Toshiba bluetooth reconfiguration by Sony (OEM) based upon the laptop model for which it was installed or is it solely based on the reconfiguration by Sony of the product?

If you don't have a Toshiba PC, just get the Fix Patch or Hotfix, depending on your OS. This worked fine for me.  I have a Sony laptop running Vista and the Fix Patch does the trick.
