Ask Me!
If you are here you already know atleast something about me, but just to set the expectations right; i am a Support Engineer in "Visual Studio Office Developer" team.
Our goal is to provide developer technical support and resolve customer issues involving automation, extensibility, integration and development with the Microsoft Office family of products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, MapPoint, Project and Publisher using Visual Studio or Visual Studio .NET (VB, C#, C/C++/ATL, MFC, ASP/Scripting), InfoPath and Visual Studio Tools for Office.
If you want to ask me any questions that relates to anything i deal with please feel free to post your query here(offcourse as a comment), I will try my best to resolve it but again..i have a job to do, so i may not me able to resolve your query, either because it may require too much of research/troubleshooting or i am too busy to resolve it, in that case i will update you about the status and will suggest you if you need to open a ticket with us and your ticket will be assigned to appropriate resource (please !!! while opening the ticket don't say that you only want to work with me! i can not handle all the cases !!! )

Since I'm visiting as part of my research on a recent problem, I'll accept your offer and ask you... I can't get an Excel Automation UDF Addin to invoke my managed code via a shim on an end-user system. It works fine in development. Please visit the link associated with this comment, and feel free to look at all six (so far) of my blog postings on the topic. It would be really nice if someone with knowledge in this area could comment. Thanks!Anonymous

Hi Pranav, I'm trying to use the method described in Eric Carters Article (http://blogs.msdn.com/eric_carter/archive/2008/04/03/updated-instructions-for-writing-user-defined-functions-for-excel-in-net.aspx) for writing custom functions in Excel. This works fine, and I wanted to use it to convert an old Vb6 com library and corresponding XLA file which adds some special calculations to excel. However, i am missing some functionality (lack of knowledge probable) to do a full upgrade: in the xla file (VBA) i could add some attributes to tell Excel a description of my function and where to find the help file is there something corresponding in .NET? (Attribute Funcxyz.VB_Description = "Funcxyz calculates Efficiency in [%]" Attribute Funcxyz.VB_HelpID = 110) How can i make errors appear in Excel like #N/A or #Value etc..., even a division by 0 generated by a function returning a double results in a very large number returned, but no error ... Thanks in advance, Johan.Anonymous

Can you please tell how can retrieve (as a cell value or a message)the InstallDate of Windows and MS Office with an Excel Macro ? I don't think there is a direct way, but I belive that you should be able to make a UDF which uses MSI SDK or WMI SDK to retrive installdateAnonymous
