Help Wanted: Writer for Visual Studio Extensibility Documentation

I'm looking for an experienced writer with programming knowledge to serve customers by helping produce great Microsoft Visual Studio extensibility documentation. This position provides a unique opportunity to explore the insides of the Visual Studio architecture, learn more about how Visual Studio can be extended and customized, create Visual Studio plug-in samples, and share knowledge and samples with independent software vendors, experimenters, and other customers with similar needs. This documentation is used both by everyday developers to customize Visual Studio as well as companies to create applications that are fully integrated into the Visual Studio development environment.

For this position, you must be a self-starter with problem-solving skills, who can craft a documentation plan, create a schedule, and foster working relationships with the functional teams of the product. A successful candidate must be able to define content for both conceptual and reference material using established documentation guidelines and to work from specifications, source code, header files, and other sources. In this role, you would be responsible for documenting APIs, creating overview and how-to topics, and providing code examples. An ideal candidate would have at least 2 years experience extending or customizing a development tool as well as at least 3 years experience with Visual Studio. Additional qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Technical Communications, Computer Science, or a related field, and proficiency in at least one .NET programming language. You must also have at least 3-5 years experience writing technical documentation, including at least 1 year documenting API's or equivalent programming documenation.

If you're interested and qualified, and if you're able to work at the Redmond campus, send me a plain-text version of your resume, or go to the Microsoft Careers Web site and click the "Submit Resume" icon. I look forward to hearing from you!

P.S. If you don't quite have all of the preceding qualifications but you have many of them, please send me your resume anyway. I know of other teams in my group that have open writer positions that might be a good fit for you.

Have you considered http://www.linkedin.com?  This might be a great way to find candidates.  Most of our agencies (S&T, Volt, etc.) are part of this network.
