Position Open - Six Month Contract SharePoint Technical Product Manager

We have an open position on the SharePoint Technical Product Management team at Microsoft for a contract product manager. This is an awesome opportunity that involves working with the latest in SharePoint technologies, working with some of the smartest people in the industry, and impacting major initiatives at Microsoft. This position will be a contract position based in Redmond, WA for 6 months which may be extended to 12 months.

Job Description

Come and join the SharePoint Technical Product Management team for a 6 month contract position planned for January 2009 to June 2009. As a Contingent Staff Product Manager, you will work closely with the development team, field and partner communities to promote SharePoint technology to developers. Responsibilities include:

  • Creating technical marketing content for the SharePoint Developer audience
  • Project management of marketing projects
  • Technical review of content and establishing consensus for reviews of content
  • Working with other teams to achieve content publishing and distribution
  • Working with Microsoft internal systems and processes for publishing
  • Deadline driven work such as event management

This position requires someone who has technical depth, is willing to take on big challenges and understands the developer audience. Ability to think independently and drive results through cross-team collaboration will be keys to success in this role.

Requirements

The candidate must have 3-5 years of work related experience in product management or project management and including work as a Software Developer with .NET Developer experience and ideally with 6 months SharePoint Development experience. Ability to work in a fast paced environment, manage multiple projects and strong written communications skills are required. Must have the ability to independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of SharePoint products and Microsoft strategies is required. Marketing experience with high-tech products preferred. Bachelor's degree in related field strongly preferred. The ideal candidate would have worked with SharePoint during the 2007 Office System beta program.

More Details 

This position will be working directly in the SharePoint Product Management team in Redmond, WA but because this is a contract position the successful candidate will be employed by an approved contracting agency.
