Microsoft Exchange 2010 upgrade Test cases – Part 08

I am writing a series of blog where I will guide you on test cases that should carry out when upgrading from either Exchange 2003 or Exchange Server 2007 to Exchange 2010. This blog is eighth of this series.

Each blog will contain two or three test cases that will guide you on various testing conditions that should help you streamline your Exchange upgrade.

Mail: Mailbox 1 (E2010) to External Mail

User Scenario

Send a message from a test user account on Exchange 2010 via Outlook to an Internet test user and confirm flow from client to Hub Transport to DMZ placed Edge transport servers

Method

Expected Results

Email delivered to second user on external SMTP address.

Exchange 2010 EXBPA results

User Scenario

Run EXBPA to validate new Exchange 2010 environment

Method

EXBPA under Exchange 2010

Expected Results

Run EXPBPA and document any issues. Fix where possible and then document all outstanding issues not resolved for future investigation.

Multiple Mailboxes move

User Scenario

Move multiple mailboxes at the same time from one store to another

Scripted via PowerShell or UI

Method

Expected Results

Successful move of mailboxes to the second mailbox database.
