Office 2010 volume activation scenarios available on TechNet
In addition to the how-to volume activation (VA) articles published as part of the Office Resource Kit (ORK), there are now several VA scenario articles. The scenarios focus on the most common use cases, providing granular examples of VA deployment. These use cases can assist you in determining the best approach to deploying VA (for example, which combination of VA methods to use – KMS and/or MAK) within your organization. For more information, see the scenario articles under Plan for volume activation of Office 2010.

It may be worth highlighting the fact that even tho it's perfectly valid to run a KMS for OS activation on 2008, (for some inexplicable reason) MS have decided not to support Office 2010 activiation on that platform!!! Despite the fact that Office 2010 "uses activation methods ...based on the Software Protection Platform introduced in Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008". This is documented in the following article: "The 2010 Office system KMS host does not work on the original release of Windows Server 2008" support.microsoft.com/default.aspxAnonymous
