Social Analytics and BI using SQL Server
Etienne Oosthuysen (Senior Consultant (Business Intelligence) - Consultant at Chamonix IT Consulting, and MS vTSP), have been working on a solution that uses the MS BI stack (SQL Server 2012 and SharePoint 2010) to acquire data from Twitter and load it into a BI optimised database, and includes a xVelocity Analytic Engine and Interactive Reports, Dashboards and Decomposition.
we are aware that you may have seen some Twitter solutions out there, but this solution takes a BI perspective of Social Media and stays completely within the MS Technology Stack, making it possible to integrate Social Media data into existing or planned BI solutions. It is also capable of dealing with very large data volumes and provides Low Latent information to users. Interesting to note that Etienne have been acquiring data for Tweets related to '*microsoft*' and '*apple*' for just over a week now and the total number of distinct Tweets across these two search criteria now already totals more than 210,000.
The video contains a short PowerPoint based overview, and then looks at the actual solution through a Tweet, seeing it flow onto the solution, the Analysis Dashboard, Deep Dive Analysis and Interactive Views using real world examples.
