SBS 2008 Rocks!!

There are many reasons why I love this product, but I want to share a real world example with you of how SBS really is a powerful solution.

Last week I was moving house.  I use a Comcast cable connection and use the Internet Address Management wizard to manage my domain.  This means that I leverage the SBS dynamic DNS client.  My SBS box is also virtualized along with my Terminal Server running app mode and some other various network tasks.

So Friday morning I stop the VMs, unplug my server, drive it to my new place which has another network connection, IP address, network provider, firewall/router etc.  I was also consolidating so I exported and imported the VMs, fired up the SBS environment, and walked away to have a coffee.

Twenty minutes later I sign on to check everything is ok.  Remote Web Workplace is up, Exchange is receiving mail, the system health picks up my POP3 service has not come back up (I hadn’t set it to be automatic start but have created the custom alert), I fix it and get on with my day.
