Step by Step: Installing Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 for Outlook

This enables access to your CRM data through Outlook. To set up CRM for Outlook on a user’s computer you have to follow the below steps.

1. Install CRM for Outlook

2. Configure CRM for Outlook

Before we go about installing CRM for Outlook lets have a look at the minimum Hardware and Software requirements required.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 for Outlook hardware requirements

The following table lists the minimum recommended hardware requirements when you run Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 for Microsoft Office Outlook in either online only or go offline enabled modes.

Network requirements

Microsoft Dynamics CRM is designed to work best over networks that have the following elements:

· Bandwidth greater than 50 kbps

· Latency under 150 ms

Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 for Outlook software requirements

Operating Systems

Any one of the following operating systems is required:

· Windows 8 (64-bit and 32-bit versions)

· Windows 7 (64-bit and 32-bit versions)

· Windows Vista SP2 (6-bit and 32-bit versions)

· Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2008 R2, or Windows Server 2008 when running as a Remote Desktop Services application.

Note: Windows XP editions are not supported for installing and running CRM 2013 for Outlook.

Note: Windows Server 2003 editions are not supported for installing and running CRM 2013 for Outlook as a Remote Desktop Services application.

Supported versions of Internet Explorer

The Microsoft Dynamics CRM web application can run in any of the following Internet Explorer versions:

· *Internet Explorer 10

· Internet Explorer 9

· Internet Explorer 8

*Internet Explorer 10 that has the new Windows UI optimized for touch devices is only supported for use with the areas of Microsoft Dynamics CRM that have the modern user interface.

Note: Internet Explorer 7 isn’t supported with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 on-premises versions or Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online.

Supported non-Internet Explorer web browsers

The Microsoft Dynamics CRM web application can run in any of the following web browsers running on the specified operating systems.

· Mozilla Firefox (latest publicly released version) running on Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista

· Google Chrome (latest publicly released version) running on Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Nexus 10 tablet

· Apple Safari (latest publicly released version) running on 10.8 (Mountain Lion)

Supported versions of Microsoft Office

To use Microsoft Dynamics CRM with Microsoft Office integration features, such as Export to Excel and Mail Merge, you must have one of the following Microsoft Office versions on the computer that is running the Microsoft Dynamics CRM web application:

· Microsoft Office 2013

· Microsoft Office 2010

· Microsoft Office 2007

Note: Microsoft Office 2003 versions aren’t supported for use with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013.

Task1: Install CRM for Outlook

You can follow the below procedure to Install CRM for Outlook,

1. Download Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 for Microsoft Office Outlook (Outlook Client) from here

Download and run the executable file that matches the architecture of Microsoft Office that you’ve installed.

2. Once you download and save the file you can extract it onto a folder

3. The Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 for Microsoft Office Outlook Setup wizard starts.

4. License Agreement

On the License Agreement page, review the information. If you accept the license agreement, select I accept the license agreement, and then click Next.

5. Install Now or Options.

· To install CRM for Outlook with offline capability, click Options, select Offline Capability on the Customize Installation page, and then click Install Now.

Although offline capability lets you run Microsoft Dynamics CRM without a network or Internet connection, it does require the installation of additional technologies and places more demand on your computer’s processor and memory.

· To install CRM for Outlook without offline capability, click Install Now.

Note: If you don’t install offline capability at this point, the user will initially have no offline capability. You can add offline capability later by clicking Go Offline in Outlook.

If you have selected offline capability then you might have to reboot the machine for some components to be installed.

If the setup doesn’t continue automatically you have to run the setup again.

6. On the completion page of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 for Microsoft Office Outlook Setup wizard, click Close.

Task 2: Configure Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook

After CRM for Outlook is installed, it must be configured. When you restart Outlook after you’ve installed CRM for Outlook, the Configuration Wizard starts automatically.

1. Start the Configuration Wizard

On the Start screen, click  Configuration Wizard

or on earlier versions of Windows click Start > All Programs > Microsoft Dynamics CRM, and then click Configuration Wizard.

Alternatively, click Configure Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook on the CRM tab in Outlook.

2. Server URL

CRM Online- Click the down arrow clip_image001[8], and then click CRM Online.

CRM Onpremise- Type the Microsoft Dynamics CRM server or discovery service URL for Microsoft Dynamics CRM in the format https://crmserver or https://crmserver:5555.

CRM Onpremise(IFD)- Type the discovery service URL with this format: https://dev.crmserver.contoso.com

3. Test Connection

CRM Online- enter your Microsoft online services user name and password, and then click OK

CRM Onpremise- You may not be prompted because Microsoft Dynamics CRM will use your Active Directory domain credentials

4. Organization

Verify the Microsoft Dynamics CRM organization in the Organization list that you want to connect to, and then click OK.

The organization is initialized.

    Microsoft CRM 2013 Update Rollup 2 has been released. This brings in support for CRM 2013 on Windows Server 2012 R2. support.microsoft.com/.../2919956

    I choose CRM online and press test connection. Then I got error message: Can not connect to CRM server. What is the problem?

    Problem solved. I removed Microsoft .NET framework and install it again.

    Hi Niran, i wanted to know if Outlook 2013 click to run version is supported with CRM 2013 client. the version of outlook is 15.0.4505.1006. i am having issue with export to excel feature and getting the error - " Export_live.aspx of  https://***.crm4.dynamics.com can not be downloaded. The Internet site could not be opened. It is either not available or could not be found. Try again later". i know click to run for 2010 outlook was not supported with CRM 2011. any update about the new versions.

    Is there any possibility to install remotely via sccm. I created a package with setupclient.exe /Q and when it runs it says successfully completed but actually not installed on the machine. Pls help

    I am try to configure CRM 2013 E-mail services with MS Exchange 2010_sp3 and find some difficulties in this regarding Exchange server profile and user mail boxes. the following message in found in the Alerts: Appointment,contacts,task can't be synchronized for mailbox<user mailbox> because a server certificate required to connect to the MS Exchange server using SSL couldn't be validate. the mailbox has been disabled for synchronizing appointments,contents and tasks and owner of the email server profile<profile name> has been notified. For configuring Email setting i am using the following link; community.dynamics.com/.../crm-2013-exchange-synchronization.aspx hope for sooner reply
