We will miss you, Steve

It might sound corny, but between all the goofy and dangerous things that Steven "Crocodile Hunter" Irwin did while filming his TV show and publicizing his little wildlife park, he spoke eloquently about the need to protect wildlife, defend the environment, and build a deep respect for the natural world in which we live.

In our busy, technology filled lives, between e-mail and the blogosphere, between architecture and endless discussions of Agile programming methods, let's not forget that there are men and women, rare, too rare, who are devoted to making sure that our children inherit a world that is worth living in.

Steve Irwin, I will miss you.  The Earth has lost an advocate.

  I've always had great respect for Steve, I was just in disbelief when I heard about the accident. When you're bombarded with hollywood effects, actors faking emotions and so called 'reality tv' you forget that some of what you see on TV is authentic, real people with incredible passion for what they do. If anything this event should teach us to respect those in the world who dedicate themselves to educating us, and honor them before they're gone forever.

  Steve, I never met you but you meant so much to me.  You gave me a true hero to look up to.  I feel like I lost a dear friend.  Rest in peace, Steve.  The entire planet feels pain from your absence.
