Wikieexplorer running on Windows Azure
Dotnetsolutions, a Microsoft Gold partner from the the UK have just finished porting their “Wikieexplorer” application to run on Windows Azure. Behind the scenes, a set of Windows Azure background processes have re-organized the millions on Wiki entries from the Wikipedia database into a form which can be easily navigated by their explorer tool which is again powered by a set of Windows Azure processes.
By entering a term such as “England”, it will create a map off all the related terms which you could then navigate.
You can test out their application at https://www.dotnetsolutions.ltd.uk/evidence/wikiexplorer/

Clearly there are advantages to using WPF in certain scenarios. Do you want to store information on the disk, do you want to run this as a stand alone application, do you want access to specfic 3D capabilities. In the case of they choose WPF as the solution, but I am sure that they could quickly support a SL version of the same application.
