Imagine Cup 2014 World Finals: July 29–Aug. 2

Microsoft is celebrating the twelfth year of Imagine Cup, Microsoft’s global student technology competition. This year’s World Finals kick off on July 29th and for the first time ever, the festivities are taking place in Seattle.

This season kicked off last September.  Since then, tens of thousands of collegiate student developers across the globe have joined the Imagine Cup program to build coding skills, as well as cross-disciplinary experience in collaboration and communication.  They first pitched their projects in a video contest; built business plans, competitive analyses, and user personas for a project planning contest. They created wireframes, information architectures, and designs for a UX contest.  These students combined these to bring their apps, robots, gadgets and solutions to life for our three flagship developer competitions.  These competitions fall into three categories: Games, Innovation, and World Citizenship categories.

More than seventy Imagine Cup National Finals took place worldwide, including a major new regional event: the Imagine Cup Pan-Arab Semifinals in Doha, Qatar.

All of that led 171 top student teams into our Imagine Cup World Semifinals.  Judged by a global panel of Microsoft staff and members of our MVP community, the very best teams emerged.  Now, 37 of them are traveling to Seattle at the end of this month to compete in our World Finals during Microsoft OneWeek and TechReady.

Congratulations to all the Imagine Cup teams and a big shout out to all our MVP Mentors who guided them!
