Around The World With MVPs: Istanbul
Every week we’re pleased to bring you MVP-focused news from around the world, to help you stay up to date on what’s happening in the community, near and far. This week we head to Istanbul, Turkey.
The MVP community there hosted an event with the local DX team earlier this month. More than 30 MVPs, RDs, and Microsoft employees gathered at entrepreneurial space StartersHub, to network and get connected with the Turkish DX team.
Istanbul is a densely populated city - more than 14 million people live there - and is home to more than a few successful companies. One of the most famous startups is GittiGidiyor, essentially a Turkish eBay. In fact, eBay itself acquired the company for $218 million in 2011.
“It was a great MVP reunion which enabled us to hear each other’s latest stories, what we are doing and what issues we are dealing with,” said Baki Onur Okutucu, a Windows and Devices for IT MVP after the event.
For many MVPs in attendance, it was their first time meeting other members of the Turkish community - some just became MVPs at the beginning of this month.
"It was great to have the opportunity to meet other MVP colleagues in the MVP get together meeting. It was also exciting to discuss how to work more productively with DX team, [and] how to reach more people with both IT Pro and Developer teams,” said Microsoft Azure MVP Evren Banger.
We love hearing about what the global MVP community is up to. Let us know if there's an interesting event coming up in your region, too!
