Singapore Power Selects Telvent for Next Generation Utility Technology

We wrote 6 months ago about Microsoft and Telvent’s Smart Grid Focus announcement to bring utilities throughout the world more scalable solutions with higher performance and increased security at a lower cost. Now much of that hard work we have been doing together is payingtelvent off for our joint customers. Today we are pleased to talk about a double solution win (ArcFM – Enterprise GIS and Responder – OMS) at Singapore Power - both leveraging the Microsoft platform. While there have been numerous Telvent wins on the Microsoft platform since we have been working closer together over the past year, this one is special in that the customer chose to deploy not just one, but two solutions from Telvent’s Smart Grid Suite. Singapore Power was keen on finding solutions that were large enough to meet their growing infrastructure and found that the combination of Microsoft, Telvent and Esri addressed their needs.

In working with utilities around the world, we are consistently asked how to minimize risk, lower costs for solution deployment and maintenance, and enhance security. Our answer has been and continues to be to leverage the Smart Energy Reference Architecture (SERA) and solutions from our partners like Telvent and Esri. As a result, utilities working with these partners have benefited from reduced IT costs and easier-to-implement upgrades. Telvent continues to work closely with us to incorporate more of Microsoft’s SERA and our cloud computing platform.

The bottom line - by implementing Telvent’s ArcFM and Responder leveraging Microsoft SQL Server and the Windows 7 operating system, Singapore Power will be able to achieve a seamless integration, realize a lower cost of ownership, tighter security and increased productivity. – Larry Kuhl clip_image001
