OSIsoft and Microsoft Webcast on Smart Energy Reference Architecture
In response to the overwhelming interest in Microsoft’s October Release of the Smart Energy Reference Architecture, we participated with our partner OSIsoft in this Sierra Energy Group Webcast hosted by industry expert Warren Causey.
In the Web cast, Larry Cochrane, Microsoft’s senior technology strategist and the primary author of SERA, explains the how utilities need a strategy for integration of virtually every operation of their enterprise to better coordinate their business operations with the new demands on generation and delivery from customers, shareholders and regulators. OSIsoft’s Marketing VP Jon Peterson discusses utility challenges and how OSIsoft can enable companies to identify and solve integration issues, prepare for an exponential increase in real-time data that will give customers and businesses the tools to control their power usage, and understand the alignment of IT infrastructure with business processes.
We had a great turnout for this event, with about 360 virtual attendees. And of course there were many questions and comments about the Web cast, some of which we were able to get to but many of which we weren’t. So, Larry has promised me that he will endeavor to answer those questions in future blogs. Stay tuned for more on SERA! – Jon C. Arnold
