Integral Management of Public Space
Last week in London we held our annual EMEA industry solutions university (ISU) event. ISU provides Microsoft account teams with customized industry training and thought leadership from leading customers, partners and our own industry experts.
In the Power & Utilities track we had great sessions and presentations this year and it was probably our best ISU ever. There were many highlights but I did want to share one solution demonstration from our partner Logica that was very interesting in that it provides a glimpse of the future when it comes to managing infrastructure and assets.
It’s called the Logica IBOR (Integral Management of Public Space) and it enables cities and large industries to control and monitor their infrastructure. IBOR offers a high potential for energy savings – especially in the case of assets like street lighting as well as improved quality of life and increased safety. The innovative solution is built from the ground up using Silverlight, Surface, SQL Server, AppFabric and Windows Azure. To learn more about IBOR and how it works I would recommend checking out the YouTube video on IBOR here.
I would be interested in your thoughts on IBOR and the possible future scenarios that cloud based solutions like IBOR can address in Power & Utilities. Please don’t hesitate to comment on this blog. I look forward to hearing from you. – Jon C. Arnold
