How Microsoft buys Green Energy

Microsoft is committed to reducing our environmental footprint, and over the past two years we continue to meet our goal of becoming carbon neutral.  Our approach continues to evolve and recently we are announced another move to make our operations more environmentally sustainable by signing a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for wind energy in Illinois that will be funded in part by proceeds from Microsoft’s carbon fee.  I believe the carbon fee program is one of the more innovative programs that we have created as a company.  You can read more about our efforts and the carbon fee program going here and please click on the great infographic that describes how we at Microsoft buy green energy.
