    How will you separate real bugs from support requests ?

    TAG -- The person from Product Support who takes the call has that job. It is a tricky one since what a customer thinks of as a bug can often be something very different (a feature request, a design flaw, an actual "by design" issue that is a user misunderstanding, a known issue, or an actual bug that someone should look into).

    Hmm ... How this is different from regular PSS ?
    Will you charge people for a call if it was a support request - not a bug ?

    As far as I've seen reports from others - PSS ask people to pay for support incindent first, then if they agree that it was a bug - they send a refund.


    BTW, Why there is no regional support numbers listed on that page ?
    For example Microsoft support in Russia & CIS (for individuals at least) is free even for non-bugs reports (even for development tools !).

    This is a seriously bad move - Microsoft should be trying to engage with customers, not erect barriers to communication.

    With the winwish and/or mswish gone, the simply truth is that many people will just not bother to submit bugs, and/or suggestions. It is not just the idea that I will get charged to submit the problem, it is that fact that I have to go to alot more effort to submit a problem.

    I noticed this change when I selected "Send feedback on Entourage" from the Help menu and got bounced to the generic "http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/" page. I just couldn't see how I was meant to submit an improvement - I assumed that Microsoft now thought it didn't need this sort of feedback.

    I think we need to realign some goals within Microsoft so that this kind of feedback is easier to capture and act upon. Internally we've got folks wondering, "How do other Microsoft employees report bugs?" other than to search the global address list in Outlook to find the appropriate alias to send it to.
