The High Barrier to entry for watching an MSDN Webcasts
I think we managed to upset more customers today with the challenges that arise from trying to watch our webcasts. The main problems that seem to plauge us with Events and webcasts is our MS Events registration system in its current form(known internally as WWE), and audio issues from Internet Audio Broadcast(IAB) from Live Meeting 2005. As a Microsoft employee and the owner of MSDN Webcasts, you would think that I should be able to use the registration system I know works, rather than our home grown version that doesn't scale to meet our customer demands.
There are days I'm happy to be here, and there are days I'm not happy to be here. Upsetting customers through a horrible webcast customer experience is not what I signed up for, so this is not a day I'm happy to be here.

It's good to know you are aware of the issues and as a viewer of many MSDN webcasts I look forward to the problems being resolved. - Anonymous

As a TechNet Webcaster, I feel your pain. I recently completed a series of 12 Windows Server 2003 Administration webcasts, and sessions 5 and 7 were plagued with technical difficulties. Session 5 was when we switched over to LM 2005, and IAB was un-usable with such a big audience (around 400 attendees). Sessions after that went back to our old VOIP provider, and that seemed to do the trick; until in session 7 someone forgot to provision it.
However - on the upside, I have to say I like LM 2005 a lot better. I particularly like the new F5 fullscreen, the new Application Sharing interface, and the ability to use animated slides (within reason). So as soon as they get the audio situation figured out, I'll be a HUGE fan. - Anonymous

Over the past several months the VOIP has gotten so intermittent that I've started to automatically change my seat color to red as soon as I enter the webcast so I can ask for the toll-free number for audio.
It must be embarrassing for the technical host to have to make a pitch for the Live Meeting product at the end of these sessions -- who would be interested in buying a license after an experience like that? - Anonymous
