Gearing up for 64-bit Windows Webcast Series - Oh yeah, and you could win a 64-bit laptop... As if that really matters...
I'm sitting here coughing up a storm as I write this. I think I've got a cold or a flu or something. Anyway, guess what we're doing November 1 - 5, 2004? That's right... We're hosting 64-bit Windows Server Webcasts. This is some cool stuff they're going to show to developers and IT Support guys.
The shift to mainstream 64-bit computing is underway, and we're gonna show you what it takes to gear up for this important milestone in our industry. In addition to our current support for Itanium, our next wave of products will provide native support for x64 processors (i.e., AMD Opteron, Intel Xeon EM64T). These products include: Windows Server 2003 x64, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, SQL Server 2005 (Yukon), Visual Studio 2005 (Whidbey), and the .NET Framework 2.0.
So from November 1-5,2004, we're delivering a webcast series that will help you take advantage of the sweeping change in technology offered by 64-bit computing.
· Run existing 32-bit code without modification on 64-bit Windows
· Write native 64-bit code (managed and unmanaged)
· Learn about the next generation of development tools
· Find out about 64-bit processor architectures
Registrations opens on October 15, 2004 https://www.microsoft.com/seminar/events/series/msdn64bitwin.mspx
The Windows Server 64-bit webcast week is a series of developer training webcasts Nov 1 - 5 delivered by the highest-caliber subject matter experts. We have a total of 13 sessions, 10 Dev (one AMD & one Intel) and 3 IT Pro. These will be available for on-demand viewing after the sessions are completed.
Oh Yeah, you also get entered into a drawing to win a 64-bit laptop just for attending and filling out a survey. How cool is that? Huh?
(US ONLY) Grand Prize – 64-bit Acer Ferrari 3200 laptop - Attend a live webcast in this series and submit an evaluation to be entered for a chance to win one of many great prizes, including the first prize – one 64-Bit Acer laptop. Other prizes include Windows Server 2003 Admin’s Pocket Consultant (13), Kensington WiFi Finder (13), and FM Auto Scan Radio (13). See the official rules for more details.
The 64-bit team is really excited to be presenting on MSDN Webcasts. If anyone decided to attend (I hope you will) think of the questions you'd want to ask the darn developer that wrote the darn code. This is your chance. How many times have you sat there at night, wondering why the %*$( did Microsoft do that? Well, here's your chance to ask those questions to the dev teams. Be nice though, these folks are really cool, and nice enough to fund the laptop giveaways for us. Hopefully they're do it again soon. So a big thank you to Neil Hutson and the 64-bit development team for presenting on MSDN Webcasts.
Thanks and have a good night.
George, MSDN Webcasts

Thanks for adding this. It would be even better if "(US Only)" was right after "Grand Prize". At the moment it's a bit lost where it is. - Anonymous

Hi Mike,
You welcome. According to the legal folks, there's legal liability issues with us offering these sweepstake prizes worldwide; otherwise, i would have done so. I'll check with the legal team and see if there is a work around. In the meantime, thank you for taking the time to view our MSDN Webcasts.
Regards,
George, MSDN Webcasts
