Audio problems with MSDN Webcasts

As of last week, we've stopped using Internet Audio Broadcast (IAB) in Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2005 until we can get a root cause determination on what's causing the audio problems. We're going back to our previous VOIP vendor Island Nation, until our live Meeting support team can stabilize and resolve the issues with audio quality. We think it's more of faulty hardware issue as we're not seeing this happen anywhere on any other Live Meeting conference centers. I'm told we're getting really close to resolving it, but we've some good stuff coming in the next few months, and don't want you guys to miss out on it due to audio issues. As many of you know, we switched over to Live Meeting 2005 at the end of March. In a way this was meant to make things better:

  1. New and improved Live Meeting attendee and presenter consoles
  2. Webcast downloads
  3. Take advantage of new improved compress of download files via Windows Media Player (10MB versus 100 MB).
  4. Built in VOIP software in Live Meeting 2005 that we can offer customers more value

We hope to get this resolved soon. Stay tuned.

This is a great pity. Poor quality sound doesn't bother me, but not getting sound at all does.

Many times I have been unable to hear a Live Meeting by phone because the correct code when typed into my (Finnish) phone was not being accepted by the system. This was solved by me requesting that Internet Audio was turned on for me. This then worked fine - at least for the purpose of hearing the presentation at all.

If this (Internet Audio off) continues there is no point in attending web casts at all - there is nothing worse than seeing slides come up in total silence (especially the last slide because you never know it IS the last slide). Been there, done it.

The audio has been fine for me lately as well. The only issues I have with the webcasts are the regisrtation process for new and prerecorded webcasts and searching for prerecorded webcasts. I've documented the problems I've seen here and left many comments in the surveys about this and they seem to have been addressed. I've also posted them on Channel 9. Sorry about the formating, I'm not sure what happened when I posted it (twice).
