Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 VPC (Extended May 2006 Edition)
Just a quick post about the fact that we finally managed to post the Extended May 2006 image on our download site. The image will now expire on 06/30/2008. I believe that all of the existing differencing disks should work, if that is not the case please let me know via the comments.
Download it here: https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=a8edfc7b-01d8-4500-845b-01370d4eed21&DisplayLang=en

Hi Chris, I didn't realize that we now have .zip files on our download site. But never the less you should be able to download the files and open the archive that ends with .zip. Once in Winzip or whatever tool you use you can choose extract and specify a location. If it gives you an error, please note on which file, because it can mean you need to download that file again.Anonymous

and all the ISV's said...... THANKS.... We use that image as a differencing disk for our demos. So when you guys told us it was expiring we were bummed, to say the least. But now our partners can continue to access and use the differencing disk we have made to demo our solution.Anonymous

There was no download corruption. I was able to extract by installing and using WinZip. Maybe there's a way to get standard Windows Explorer zip file-handling to work, but I couldn't do it. My hunch is that Explorer alone can't handle the multi-file zip spanning like WinZip (and maybe other tools like WinRAR) can. I was doing all this on Win Server 2003, by the way. Perhaps things are friendlier in XP or Vista. More good news is that using this base VHD ("CRM.vhd" as extracted) directly shows an expiration date of 9/4/2008, slightly beyond the advertised 6/30/2008. I haven't yet gotten the updated expiration to take effect on differentials built on top of the base VHD, though, which is the real goal for extending the lifetime of existing demos. However, my initial tests involved a 3rd-generation VHD (a differential of a differential of the base). Though swapping in the new base worked, the expiration date didn't budge from 9/20/2007. I had both the base VHD and the 2nd-generation VHD marked as read-only, though. I think the key may be to have any differential of the base writable. That would leave many of our multi-generational VHD demos out of luck, but the 2-generational ones could be preserved. I've already overspent my time on this and will have to set it aside to get some Real Work done. I'll try to follow up later with more findings, but maybe others can beat me to it.Anonymous

Brad, you can use the user "Administrator" with the same password as crmadmin. I find it weird you get this message since crmadmin is an enterprise administrator and is a farm administrator on MOSS.Anonymous

Thanks for your feedback Chris. I am also happy to hear that you were able to extract the zip files. Please do keep us updated of your findings with the dif files.Anonymous

Trouble with Extracting remains. I was able to pinpoint that .z03 image produces the error through trial and error (renaming the file etc). I have downloaded this file 3 times to remove any transmission related issues. Used W2K and WinXP, and using Winzip 10 to do this. Any thoughts? -eskayAnonymous

Eskay, please clear your cache / temp internet files and download all files. After that extract the file with winzip.Anonymous

We have had a several people here download them and so far we haven't been able to get any of them to extract either. The only file that extracts is CRM.vhdAnonymous

CRM.vhd is the only file that is in the .zip file. If you do not have a .VMC file for it you have to create one yourself.Anonymous

I too have the issue of being unable to unzip the downloaded file. Have downloaded several times. CRM.vhd is the only file that extracts.Anonymous

Again, CRM.vhd is the ONLY file that should get extracted. You need to create your own .VMC file to make it start Virtual PC 2007Anonymous

I was having the same issue whe I tried to unzip the files. Check the file with the extension of “.z01”. When I downloaded this file it downloaded with an extension of “.z01.zip”. Once I removed the “.zip” the files extracted properly. Note: found this on a post, for anyone still having problems unzipping the crm.vhdAnonymous

I've had a "Doh!" moment, so in case anyone else missed the obvious, what Mennokt is saying above is that all 6 files unzip into a single file, crm.vhd.
