Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 Update Rollup 1 for Server and Sales for Outlook
The Microsoft CRM Sustained Engineering team has released Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 Update Rollup 1 for Server and Sales for Outlook.
This Update Rollup is significant in that it is the first publicly-available hotfix/update rollup for CRM 3.0. It makes it very easy for customers to update their Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 systems to the latest set of hotfixes, and to maintain parity between the client and server components of Microsoft CRM 3.0.

- Microsoft Knowledge Base Article: https://support.microsoft.com/kb/922815
Please note:
- CRM 3.0 Update Rollup 1 does not provide compatibility with CRM 3.0 Sales for Outlook compatibility with Windows Vista and Office 2007. Stay tuned to communications regarding availability of a CRM 3.0 Sales for Outlook compatible with Windows Vista and Office 2007.
- Chinese and Japanese versions of CRM 3.0 Update Rollup 1 are not available, but are under consideration.
- When customizations were exported from a Microsoft CRM 3.0 server running Update Rollup 1, importing the customizations to a Microsoft CRM 3.0 server that does not have Update Rollup 1 installed is not supported. Such an attempt will produce an error message such as “The selected schema file does not conform with the requested format. There has been an error with the schema validation in line 37977, position 16.” When attempting to import customizations to your CRM Server that were exported from a CRM Server running Update Rollup 1, make sure the CRM Server to which you are importing the customizations also has Update Rollup 1 installed.
- Update Rollup 1 contains hotfixes and updates that you have to manually enable or configure. To enable or configure these hotfixes on the server that is running Microsoft CRM 3.0, consult the "Hotfixes and updates that you have to manually enable or configure" section of Microsoft Knowledge Base article 922815.

If you apply the CRM Rollup to the server, do the clients need to have the rollup immediatly applied or will they continue to function and we can do the client rollout as time permits? Thanks.Anonymous

Is there any documentation on how to apply the client in a Microsoft Terminal Services scenario? From what I can tell, the client update has to be installed on EVERY USER PROFILE! Not only this, but it also requires admin priviledges!!!! Can you imagine having to install this for 200 users, where for each one you have to grant them admin, then remove? Some deployment documetnation for a terminal services environment would be great. There seems to be an option to integrate the update rollup into an installation package, but I can't get this to work. I copied the lightclient.msi from the CRM client cd, typed /integrate:c:crmclientfolder, but I get an error. "An error occured while attempting to integrate this software update package. Verify that the architecture, language, and service pack level of this software update are valid for the target distribution folder." This doesn't make any sense. The client install path is freshly copied from the CD. There are no patches applied to it or anything.Anonymous

Scott: As you could read in my post there is no server update, only a client update.Anonymous

Brandon: Have you ever done a CRM installation in a Terminal Server enviroment? If yes you would know that you install the actuall bits only once and you would use a script to enable the bits to the userprofiles within the Terminal Server. So the only thing you would wanne do is to update the actual bits only once and you are good to go.Anonymous

I am getting a error when installing the client update. It says I have a language mismatch. I have checked out KB 927108, but had no luck with what it suggested. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Robert bblake@candybouquet.comAnonymous

When I was installing the CRM 3.0 rollup 1, I got the following error: "Setup failed to update the database. The installation of this update has stopped. Contact Customer Support Services." It turns out the solution was to update the BuildVersion in the MSCRM Database. The following query should do the trick: update BuildVersion Set Revision = '1232' IrvinAnonymous

When I had the error for installing Rollup package 1 I first had to uninstall the redeployment tool. After removal of the redeployment tool the Rollup package installed successfully.Anonymous
