Virtualization: Test Drive Hyper-V Now

Microsoft has been providing powerful virtualization tools for years. Microsoft Virtual Server 2005, the current server offering, remains a leader in compatibility and industry support. As virtualization goes mainstream — majority of enterprise organizations are using or evaluating virtualization — and businesses are benefiting from total cost of ownership reduction for server infrastructure and the other advantages for server consolidation and increased agility.

We just released the first public beta of our virtualization technology, called Hyper-V. As you know Windows Server will ship in February and is launching with SQL Server 2008 and Visual Studio 2008.

We also announced that we would offer a stand-alone version of Hyper-V that does not require the use of Windows Server 2008.
