App-V 4.6 for Remote Desktop Services now available!

Awesome news! Over on the MDOP blog they just announced the availability of App-V 4.6 to RTM. This is especially fantastic news for Remote Desktop Services deployments (previously Terminal Services).

With many RDS deployments going towards 64bit for vertical scalability, App-V has not been able to be supported. With this release, 64bit is now totally supported!

What should you care? Every RDS CAL you buy now has App-V for RDS included! That means you can use App-V to solve application conflict issues that have historically caused problems with RDS and TS. It also improves the speed of application deployment when you provision a new RDS server.

App-V 4.6 can be accessed immediately via MDOP 2010. Existing MDOP customers can download MDOP 2010 at the Microsoft Volume Licensing Site (MVLS). For evaluation, MDOP 2010 can be downloaded from MSDN and TechNet.

App-V 4.6 for RDS (formerly App-V for Terminal Services) can be downloaded immediately here.

Note: At present we know the App-V 4.6 for RDS site does not specifically call out support for Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2003 R2. It does! We're working on fixing that up on the site.

It is impossible to download because there are no YES answer for this agreement: "By downloading and using Microsoft Application Virtualization for Remote Desktop Services you agree to such license terms. Answering YES below states you agree and accept the licensing terms. If you do not accept them, select NO to cancel and do not use the software. (*) No"
