Two More Banks Add Mobile Online Banking to Their Portfolios

Wachovia and HSBC both have plans to build and deploy Mobile Banking Applications.

HSBC's MONILINK was launched on October 4th 2006. If you’ve got a bank account with  HSBC or First Direct, you can download the Monilink application to your handset, and use it to check your balance, see statements on demand, and even top-up your prepay mobile direct from your bank account.

Wachovia announced on December 19th the first phase of its mobile banking system (https://www.wachovia.com/mobile) for its customers. Wachovia Mobile, the company's first step with mobile banking, is available now on handheld devices running Windows Mobile 5 with Pocket Internet Explorer.

"Wachovia Mobile offers a user-friendly experience to Wachovia's online customers, and we are excited to be the first major bank to offer this innovative service," said Gloria Chance, Chief eCommerce Officer. The new service lets Wachovia customers view account balances, check account activity, and transfer funds using their mobile phones. Wachovia has indicated that they will soon make Wachovia Mobile available on other handheld devices running other operating systems.
