Outlook 2013 Password Prompt

have changed my password for my user account on my domain and now Outlook prompts for a password for what feels like a million times a minute.  Very frustrating.   After some investigation, I found that there is a really simple fix and is something I really need to remember, so as normal, I am putting on my notepad :)

Using Windows 8.1 and Outlook 2013 with Exchange

  1. Go to the control Panel
  2. Click User accounts
  3. Click Manage Windows credentials
  4. Click on the item that has the name Outlook in the title (something like MS.Outlook.15:<Email Address>
  5. Click Edit
  6. Change the password in here to the new Windows domain password
  7. Click Save

This will inform Outlook what the new password is, hence why it keeps prompting for me to enter my password previously.

Simple when you know how!

Sounds like a server issue and communication to me.

Although it is simple, this is what I have to do every time the password is changed. And this happens once every thirty days. I think there should be better solution.

We use Office365 for our email exchange server and local Office Pro Plus 2010; for my users it's every 90 days the password expires. We all know how to change the password but we get no advanced notification...email just stops working. Can we at least set up a 7-day prior notification? I can't find this.

There is much better way to resolve the whole problem:
    just delete saved credentials.
    Read http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2762344/en-us for explanation.

    Any idea?

I thought that in a domain, the password you used to authenticate to the AD controller was stored and used as your password for anything you accessed from the session, ie. network shares, printers, and Mail.
