Make your email subject lines work
We're all time-stretched and email-overloaded. Here are a couple of tips to help your mails get read.
- Make more of the subject line so recipients can immediately see how the message relates to them and why it's important.
- Be very specific about the response you require, ie: budget figures required by 10 March
- If the mail is 'for information only' put FYI in the subject line - knowing that a response is not required won't deter people from reading.
- Don't cc people unnecessarily, it could dilute the effectiveness of your message and confuse those who don’t have to action anything .
- Lastly – check before sending! Have you included attachments? Sure?
